Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin’s latest LP, Fly By Wire is being released through Polyvinyl Records on September 17th, 2013.

I remember once reading an article about how the real Boris Yeltsin would have loved Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, but that was theoretically, of course. All though, I couldn’t help but think that maybe Mr. Yeltsin would actually like the band. I sure do and I’d like to say I’m a fan of very good music.

Fly By Wire opens with the dreamy leading track, Harrison Ford, which plays smoothly and while very tight, probably has nothing to do with Ford himself. The offbeat sounds of the album offer a much more relaxed feeling than Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin’s past releases and it all somehow seems to fit together perfectly.

My favorite track has to be Nightwater Girlfriend, this melodic and organic indie cue with hopeless heartbreaking lyrics like “Don’t turn your back on me / I’m not ready for defeat.” To loving, wishing lines “Her lips are lightning / She’s the nightwater queen.” It’s arguably SSLBY’s best album yet and maybe John made a bad move on leaving the band. There’s very little to say about an album when you like it so much, but Fly By Wire earns a high recommendation.
